Geothermal/ground source heat pumps are electrically powered systems that take advantage of the earth's constant ground temperature to provide heating, cooling and hot water for home and commercial buildings.

With a closed loop system, water or and antifreeze solutions is circulated through plastic pipes buried beneath the earth's surface. During the winter, the fluid collects heat from the earth and carried it through the system into the building. During the summer, the system reverses itself to cool the building by pulling the heat from the building and placing it in the ground.
